Once again the lovely White Rock hosted our social events, The Pairs and the Blitz. The excellent food and beverages went down well with arbiters and players alike, and the hotel provided extra lighting and chairs for the function room for the Blitz last night.
Lara Barnes was ably assisted by David Clayton, and then later by the rest of the control team, including Matt Carr who not only played to make up the numbers but also took some pictures and did some minor arbiting!
Unlike recent years we had no GMs this year, so the opportunity was seized by FM Adam C Taylor (pictured) to finish a point ahead of the field. It seems like only yesterday he was playing this event and asking not to be in the photos in case he was caught bunking off school!
